Bundle of meat items

After 8 years of selling farm products online, we’ve learned which items drive the most sales—and how to market them effectively.

Also, these items have low barriers to entry making it easy for any farm to incorporate as an enterprise in their business.

Today, I’m sharing the three products that have consistently performed well for us, along with tips on how you can replicate this success for your farm.

1. Eggs 🥚

Why They Sell Well: Eggs are a staple that people buy regularly, making them an easy entry point into your online store.

While the margins on eggs are lower due to the labor involved (washing, packing, etc.) and costs like feed and cartons, eggs are a great gateway product

Once customers add eggs to their cart, they often browse for higher-margin items like bacon, sausage, or even steaks to round out their purchase.

How to Market Them in Your Newsletter: Share a story about a typical morning on the farm, collecting eggs, and how fresh, local eggs are better than store-bought.

Tease a limited supply and emphasize that those on your newsletter get first dibs on orders before eggs sell out.

Example Newsletter Copy: “Morning egg collection is one of the best parts of farm life! 🐔🥚 Our pasture-raised eggs are collected fresh daily, and the best part? They’re available now! Don’t miss out—subscribers like you get first access to our limited stock of farm-fresh eggs. Order today before they’re gone!”  CTA: “Shop now and add fresh, pasture-raised eggs to your order.”

How to Market on Social Media: Post a behind-the-scenes reel of collecting eggs or a picture of a carton of freshly washed eggs, captioned with a teaser like: “Farm-fresh eggs! 🐔🥚 Subscribers to our newsletter get first dibs—grab them while they last. Sign up now for early access and never miss out again!” (Link to your newsletter signup and online store)

2. Parted, Pastured Poultry 🐓

Why It Sells Well: Parted poultry is convenient for customers who know exactly which cuts they want.

For small farms, selling parted poultry under the 1,000-bird exemption can be incredibly profitable because it allows you to own the process from start to finish, eliminating the need for processors or middlemen. You can charge a premium for pasture-raised, high-quality meat, and your production is only limited by your time and ability to market.

How to Market It in Your Newsletter: Highlight the convenience and superior flavor of pasture-raised, parted poultry.

Share a simple recipe or cooking tip for one of the cuts you’re offering (e.g., roasted chicken thighs). Create a sense of exclusivity by reminding subscribers they get early access to this premium product by following you and signing up for your newsletter..

Example Newsletter Copy: “Our pasture-raised chickens aren’t just delicious—they’re raised with care and processed by hand right here on the farm. This week, we’ve got chicken thighs and breasts perfect for your family dinner. 🐓🍽️ Try this easy roasted chicken thigh recipe and order yours today! Newsletter subscribers get first access, so don’t wait!”  CTA: “Order your pasture-raised chicken now and taste the difference.”

How to Market on Social Media: Post a video showing the birds roaming freely, and emphasize the benefits of pasture-raised poultry in your caption.

“Premium, pasture-raised poultry is in stock! 🐓🍗 Our subscribers always get first dibs, so sign up for early access to order cuts like chicken thighs and breasts before they sell out!”.  Include the recipe teased in the newsletter as a teaser for both the newsletter and the product.

3. Bundle Packages 🥩

Why They Sell Well: Bundles offer customers a way to sample various products while benefiting from a discount.

They’re an easy sell because everyone loves a deal. Bundles are also a great way to move slower-selling items, such as less popular cuts, by combining them with best-sellers. You can market bundles as seasonal sales, gift boxes, or farm samplers, constantly changing based on your inventory.

How to Market Them in Your Newsletter: Promote the variety and value in your bundles.

Include a breakdown of what’s in the bundle and emphasize the discount they’re getting by purchasing the bundle instead of individual items. You could even suggest gift bundles for holidays or special occasions.

Example Newsletter Copy: “This week’s special is our Farm Sampler Bundle, featuring a mix of our favorite cuts, including bacon, pork chops, and chicken breasts—all for one low price! 🥩🍗 It’s the perfect way to try a little bit of everything. Grab yours now and save 10% (or whatever discount you’d like to offer) compared to ordering these items separately.” CTA: “Order your Farm Sampler Bundle today and enjoy pasture-raised goodness at a 10% discount!”

How to Market on Social Media: Post a picture of the bundled items or an unboxing video showing everything included in the package.

“Our Farm Sampler Bundle is back, and it’s better than ever! 🥩🍗 Want a taste of everything we offer at a discount? Sign up for our newsletter and be the first to know when these go on sale!”  Link directly to the newsletter signup and bundle page on your website.

Conclusion:

With these strategies, you can not only sell more of your farm products online but also build customer loyalty through engaging marketing that drives traffic to your newsletter and online store. By sharing your farm’s story, offering value through bundles, and making the most of premium products like pasture-raised poultry, you’ll attract more engaged customers ready to support your farm.

These have worked well on our farm (longbottomfarm.com) and I hope they help you sell more items and boost your farm’s profits.  Have Questions?  Just click the button below and I’ll get back to you ASAP!
